ENG 101 Assignment #1 Brainstorming
For the essay that we are going to be doing I think I will most likely being using the technology prompt and if it is changing the human mind. I find this topic to be a bit more interesting and as though there will be more to talk about and research. For right now I'm pretty sure I will be agreeing with the statement because I feel as though the internet is making us think in different ways and it is also in a way making us think LESS. Being that there is a search engine and there is a way to easily find information because it is displayed with one click of the mouse, it causes us to want to use it being that it is a fast and easy way to find information. No one wants to sit at home reading a book or sit at the library for numerous hours searching through books when they can simply sit at home on a computer and find the information in less than 5 seconds. I'll admit that I personally like using google and the internet because being that I am a full time student and I work part time, there's not a lot of time in my schedule to actually sit down and research for x amount of hours so personally for me I like using the internet and I like using google because its more efficient.

I agree with the fact that you also believe that the internet makes us think in different ways, but also in many aspects makes us very lazy. I think society is very spoiled now of days because there is really no such thing of looking up a word in the dictionary or looking through an encyclopedia, everything is done electronically. So I also agree with the way Carr's describes how technology has changed the thinking process of many, creating short attention spans. Although google and other search engines have saved me in my time of need but it has also made me very lazy because I can't find myself actually picking up a book to look for the information I need

YOU'RE LAZY! jk i agree because google is more convenient for the majority of the people in todays world
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Jocelyn to an extent. I don't feel so much that it has made us "lazy" I just think it has made us evolve in the way research is done. You can sit back and pick up a book but there is a sort of convenience in the way Google works because it is faster to find valuable information.
